The photographs are records of ephemeral processes and situations. Some of the photos document temporary drawings: ‘blackboards with Violeta’ records a two year long co-operation between the then nine year old Violeta Gonzalez with Tanja Smit on a constantly changing drawing on which they worked in turns. ‘Vapour’ is the recording of an ephemeral diary: during a few months, each day after showering, a self-portrait was drawn in the condensation on the bathroom mirror. Other self-portraits, in this case in the form of ephemeral ‘light paintings’, are represented in the series ‘ausencias’. ‘Nomansland’is an extended series that documents the transformation of a small piece of land. |
